A superfine undercoat from the very rough and hairy looking Yak
Yak fibre is suprisingly soft, being the downy underlayer of the fleece that traps air and keeps the animal warm in the Himalayas. This soft fibre is combed to put it right up there with cashmere in terms of it's fine quality.
Yak is not as popular as it should be. The fibre is in the cashmere range of qualities with a good soft handle. If you like working with superfine fibres this is worth a try.
