We process tonnes of fibres every month, both in the shop and the Wingham Mill, and as you can imagine we often have a few odds and ends left over. Due to the large amounts we deal with, these odds and ends can weigh a few kilos, so it would be crazy for us to throw them away.
Instead we put together these bags, made up of various colours of mixed wools. You never quite know what you're going to get, but we try and make sure there's a nice mix in each one. They're a great option if you're looking for as many different colours as possible, and they're all suitable for handspinning, feltmaking and needlefelting.
Please note image is for display only as each pack will be different.
"What are "Laps" "?
When we're running our machinery the most common mishap is when wools get stuck on the rollers. The fibres then "lap" around the workings and often have to be cut away. In more recent times the term has been applied to any small amounts of fibres that can't be sold in our usual weights. Essentially its bits of leftover wool!
