Our White Cotswold wool tops have a notably long staple, averaging 22cm. Longer than many other British breeds, these fibres offer plenty of scope for exploring different spinning techniques and creating yarns with individual character.

At an average of 37 micron, Cotswold has a firm, substantial handle. Its long fibres make it an interesting wool to experiment with, allowing you to explore how changes in preparation, drafting and twist affect your finished yarn.

Lovely wool!

I bought this wool for a challenging project: from spinning to weaving Dutch lakenstof, similar as the English broadcloth. We know from ancient sources that lakenstof was woven from wool with long staple. The Cotswold wool was perfect for that! Even for a beginner like me, the wool was perfect for spinning. So good that the thread can even be used as a warp thread, this after sizing the warp. All in all, I am very satisfied with the wool, service and shipping from Wingham Wool.

Nice wool.

I love this wool, it's easy to spin for a non proffessional person as the staples are quite long.
