Wingham Hand Combs with Base Plate

The Wingham Hand Combs And Base Plate are based on the classic Peter Teal comb design, offering a compact and efficient fibre preparation tool for spinners working with smaller quantities of fibre. Designed for precision and ease of use, they provide excellent control while reducing effort during combing.

The base unit allows one comb to be clamped securely in a fixed vertical position, enabling a stable up-and-down combing action while the second comb is used by hand. This setup makes fibre handling easier and helps achieve consistent, repeatable results. If preferred, both combs can also be used freehand in the same way as traditional hand combs.

The handles and tines are set at an optimum working angle, ensuring smooth fibre entry and efficient transfer with each swing. With one comb held firmly in place, you can achieve a precise, controlled action every time.

A tine straightener is included to allow easy correction should a tine become bent, helping reduce the need for repairs and extending the working life of the combs. A diz is also included for drawing off smooth, even sliver.

Care:
After use, ensure the combs are completely dry. If storing for a longer period, apply a light spray of WD-40 or a similar product, holding the combs with the tines pointing down so excess can run off. Store in a dry place.
