Triangular felting needles are the most versatile and widely used needles for needle felting. Their three-sided design features evenly spaced barbs that efficiently catch and tangle fibres, making them ideal for shaping, sculpting and adding detail to a wide variety of needle felted projects.
Suitable for both beginners and experienced makers, these high-quality needles can be used on wool and other animal fibres to create everything from simple flat designs to detailed three-dimensional sculptures. Available in a range of gauges, you can choose the needle best suited to your project and the level of detail required.

Which gauge should I choose?
Select a gauge below to see its recommended uses.
19 Gauge – Extra Coarse
For very coarse, strong fibres such as flax. Moves a large amount of fibre with each stroke, making it suitable for rapid initial bonding and structural work. Not recommended for fine wool, detailed work or surface finishing.
36 Gauge – General Purpose
A versatile all-round needle suitable for most wool needle felting. Ideal for building shapes, joining components and general sculpting. A finer needle can be used afterwards for detailed finishing.
40 Gauge – Fine
For controlled shaping, detailing and surface refinement. Moves less fibre than a 36 gauge needle and leaves smaller entry marks. Particularly suitable for fine wool and the later stages of a project.
43 Gauge – Very Fine
Designed for delicate details, fine outlines and careful surface finishing. Best used with fine fibres or on material that has already been firmly felted.
46 Gauge – Ultra-Fine
For extremely precise details and final surface smoothing. Leaves very small entry marks and moves only a small amount of fibre with each stroke. Best suited to fine fibres and densely felted work.
19 Gauge – Extra Coarse
For very coarse, strong fibres such as flax. Moves a large amount of fibre with each stroke, making it suitable for rapid initial bonding and structural work. Not recommended for fine wool, detailed work or surface finishing.

For extremely precise details and final surface smoothing. Leaves very small entry marks and moves only a small amount of fibre with each stroke. Best suited to fine fibres and densely felted work.
A higher gauge number indicates a finer needle. Coarse needles move more fibre and felt quickly, while finer needles provide greater precision and a smoother finish.
