The Wingham Blending Hackle is designed to help you create smooth, consistent fibre blends by layering fibres onto the hackle and drawing them off together. This simple but effective process allows colours and fibre types to be combined evenly before spinning or felting.

Hackles are particularly useful when you want to blend fibres while keeping them well aligned. This makes them ideal for preparing fibre for worsted-style spinning, where parallel fibres produce a smooth, well-defined yarn. They are also excellent for building colour gradients, creating custom blends, or preparing fibres to be drawn off through a diz.

The hackle is designed to be clamped securely to a work surface, providing stability while loading and removing fibres. Once fibres have been layered onto the tines, they can be drawn off to create beautifully blended sliver ready for spinning or further processing.

Superb quality!

Great hackle - beautifully finished wood, strong, sturdy and resilient tines, just a great quality piece of equipment, which I can expect to outlast me!It arrived promptly and most perfectly packed, padded by a very lovely batt which was totally unexpected. The description on the website is very accurate, but just to confirm that it has a wide working area, and so can accommodate quite a bit of fibre. Also quite nice that there is a lip at the back of the hackle which is supposed to support the fibres but also doubles as a gauge to make sure you leave a uniform amount of fibre behind the hackle. Beautiful to look at, the cap on the tines is essential. You will need some C-clamps to secure the hackle to a surface, though there are pre-drilled holes if wishing to fix semipermanently to a surface. A nice diz is included, too! I am very pleased with this hackle!
