I bought my drum carder just under a year ago, and it's allowed me to be much more productive (before I had just been using hand cards), and is not showing any signs of wear. It's easy to use, and makes great batts with all the wools I've tried- fine breeds like Shetland and coarser ones like Herdwick as well as more medium wools like Zwartbles, Cheviot, and Texel.
Hi! I was very happy to receive my first drum carder yesterday. I was unpacking it with trembling hands, so impatient I was :). There was everything I needed to start carding immediately. Smart design of clamps allowed me to attach the carder to my weird table with no problem. I easily installed the handle, placed the first small cloud of wool on the tray and rotated the handle. The packer brush helped to get the fiber well packed onto the drum. I removed the first bat off the carder and was impressed with the quality of fiber as due to 120 PPI cloth there was no need to go for a second pass. The process of preparing wool for spinning and felting is going to be faster and easier now. Every detail of the carder is very well thought out. All instruction on starting, using and maintaining the carder are enclosed. Thank you, Wingham Wool! I wish you a good luck in the Wool World!
loving my latest addition to my spinning collection. The drum carder is so much easier and faster for carding your fleece.
