Wingham Flax Hackle

The Wingham Flax Hackle is designed for preparing flax fibres for spinning by aligning and separating the fibres into smooth, workable lengths. An essential step in traditional flax processing this helps remove shorter fibres and impurities while producing clean, parallel fibres ready for spinning.

By drawing the flax repeatedly through the rows of steel tines, the fibres become progressively more aligned and refined. This process creates the smooth preparation needed for spinning strong, even linen yarns.

The hackle is built for stability during use and is designed to be securely clamped to a work surface, allowing you to work confidently while drawing the fibres through the tines.

6 mm diameter ground taper point steel tines
Wooden Base Plate: 2cm thick area 34 cm x 14 cm, pre-drilled for screwing down or can be clamped.

3 mm diameter steel tines, double angle taper ground points for ease of entry of the fibre.
